Mohamed Ibn Chambas (born 7 December in Bimbilla,[1]Ghana) is a Ghanaian lawyer, diplomat, politician and academic who has served as an international civil servant since He last served as the United Nations Special Representative of the Secretary-General for West Africa and the Sahel, and the former head of UNOWAS from April to April [2][3] Previously, he served as the UN SRSG and Head of the Joint UN-AU Peacekeeping Mission in Darfur (), the Secretary-General of the African, Caribbean and Pacific Group of States () and the president of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS, –).[4]
Early life and education
He attended Mfantsipim School, Cape Coast, and Government Secondary School, now Tamale Secondary SchoolTamale.
He holds degrees in political science from University of Ghana, Legon (B.A. ) and Cornell University Ithaca, New York (M.A. , PhD ). He has a Jur
