          Chenoa Egawa is of the Lummi and S’Kallam Nations of Washington State.

          Bio: Keith and Chenoa Egawa are a brother and sister writing and illustrating team of Lummi and S'Klallam Indian ancestry.

        1. In addition to her work as a writer and illustrator, Chenoa is a traditional medicine carrier, ceremonial leader, singer, public speaker, environmental activist.
        2. Chenoa Egawa is a member of the Lummi and S'Kallam nations of Washington State and a multifaceted performance artist.
        3. Keith Egawa and Chenoa Egawa share the story of Shiny, a whale child that becomes a boy to help humans understand the harm facing the world's oceans.
        4. Chenoa Egawa is a ceremonial leader, singer, speaker, environmental activist, storyteller and artist dedicated to bringing healing to our Mother Earth.
        5. Her S’Klallam grandmothers were well known healers, ceremonial singers and carriers of language, stories and teachings of the first people of the Coast Salish. She is a ceremonial leader, medicine carrier, singer, speaker, and artist dedicated to bringing healing to people from all cultures through recognition of our shared experiences as human beings.

          Through extensive travels in Mexico, Guatemala, Brazil and Chile she has served as a bridge for communication in exchanges with indigenous peoples of North and South in efforts to protect and preserve indigenous cultures, languages and homelands.
